East Bay Paratransit provides service in Western Contra Costa County in the cities and towns of El Cerrito, El Sobrante, Kensington, parts of Pinole, Richmond and San Pablo that are served by AC Transit and BART. Because East Bay Paratransit also serves people in Alameda County you can schedule trips across county lines with the same operator.
Paratransit hours are the same as the hours for A C Transit or BART in the service area.
East Bay Paratransit is the ADA paratransit operator for the areas served by A C Transit and BART. It transports people in this area who are unable to ride public transit due to a disability or disabling health condition. East Bay Paratransit requires an in-person assessment in addition to the paper application.
To apply for East Bay Paratransit eligibility, you must live in the East Bay Paratransit service area and send your application to them directly. The application is available online or by calling East Bay Paratransit to request one by mail. In order for your application to be approved, you must be certified eligible based on your inability to use buses or trains.
Applicants must meet the residency and age or disability requirements:
1. Residency Requirement: Applicant must reside in one of the following cities/areas: Richmond; El Sobrante; Kensington; and the unincorporated communities of East Richmond Heights; Hasford Heights; Rollingwood; and North Richmond.
2. Age OR Disability: Seniors (age 55 or older) who meet the residency requirement qualify for service. Applicants between ages of 18-54 must provide proof of disability.
Richmond, El Cerrito, El Sobrante, Kensington, North Richmond, San Pablo, as well as unincorporated communities of Bayview-Montalvin, East Richmond Heights, Hasford Heights, Rollingwood, and Tara Hills. Service is available as far north as Pinole and as far south as El Cerrito.
Monday- Friday from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm (excluding City holidays)
Fees are subject to change. R-Transit program utilizes a coupon system to collect fares. Reservations made one – ten days in advance cost $4.00 one-way; same day reservations are $5.00 one-way. An attendant may ride with the participant at no additional charge. Registered clients must purchase coupon books to use the service.

Mobility Matters operates two volunteer driver programs, that provide free, one on one, door through door, escorted rides by screened and trained volunteer drivers using their own cars.
Essentially homebound seniors over age 60 living in Contra Costa County who are ambulatory, with or without equipment, and do not have access to safe appropriate transportation for medical and dental care and basic necessities, like grocery shopping. Riders must require door through door escort with elbow or standby assistance to qualify.
