Walnut Creek Transportation and Shared Rides

The Walnut Creek Recreation Transportation program serves seniors and adults with disabilities and health conditions. Use any of our service options to schedule rides to medical appointments, grocery stores, activities, and more.

Walnut Creek Mini Bus is a 5-passenger or 7-passenger city vehicle. This is a good option for people who need extra help getting into and out of a vehicle. The Mini Bus is also helpful for people who do not use rideshare services.

Mini Bus Program Eligibility

To use the Walnut Creek Mini Bus, you must be:

  • A Walnut Creek resident
  • 60+ years of age
  • 18+ years of age with Adaptive Need

The City of Walnut Creek funds Lyft rides to expand its transportation services. With a Lyft Self Access Pass, you can arrange Lyft rides using your computer or smartphone. Drivers use their personal vehicles to transport riders.

Eligibility

To use the Lyft Self Access Pass, you must:

  • Have access to a computer or smartphone and be able to schedule rides on your own.
  • Be 60+ years of age or be 18+ with adaptive needs and be unable to use public transportation or drive a car.
  • Be a resident of Walnut Creek, Concord, Clayton, Pleasant Hill or Martinez.
  • Be comfortable boarding vehicles (including SUVs and vans) without help.

We may request medical or DMV documentation.

If you do not have access to a computer, or if you need help, visit us in person to fill out our online application. Our address is 1375 Civic Drive, Walnut Creek, CA 94596.
You can pay for the service by phone. Call (925) 295-1490 or (925)-256-3533 Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

Use the Lyft Concierge Pass to schedule rides to appointments and activities. You do not need a smartphone to use this service. Instead, you call a reservation line and a dispatcher schedules your rides for you.

Eligibility

The Lyft Concierge Pass is for people ages 70+ who have disabilities or health conditions and do not have access to a smartphone. This service is also available to people ages 18+ with adaptive needs. Residents of Walnut Creek, Concord, Pleasant Hill, Clayton and Martinez are eligible to use this service. This service is designed for people who cannot use public transportation or drive a car. We may request documentation to determine eligibility.

Making a reservation
  • The reservation line is available Monday through Friday from 9am to 10am. Call (925) 256-3533 to reserve your ride. Rides are not set until a dispatcher speaks with you and confirms the schedule.
  • With the Lyft Concierge Pass, you can take rides anywhere within Walnut Creek, Concord, Clayton, Pleasant Hill and Martinez.
  • You must reserve your ride at least 2 day in advance or as many as 7 days in advance.
  • Provide the exact locations and times for pick-up and return when you reserve a ride. Give the dispatcher any necessary gate codes, building names, or building numbers.
